RV stays in Wyoming

Yellowstone geysers, Teton spires, and a state with more antelope than people.

Why Wyoming

A traveler's overview

Wyoming is the least populated state and it shows on every road. Yellowstone in the northwest, the Tetons just south, the Wind River range deeper in the wilderness. The eastern half of the state is the high plains — empty, windy, full of antelope.

CurbNTurf hosts cluster around Jackson, Cody, and the Bighorn Basin. Summer (mid-June through early September) is the season; everything outside that window is either ski-town busy (Jackson) or genuinely empty.

Things to do

Roads, food, and seasons in Wyoming

Drive the Beartooth Highway (US-212) from Red Lodge, Montana into Yellowstone's northeast entrance. It tops out at 10,947 feet, opens late May or early June, and is one of the best mountain highways in the country.

Lamar Valley at sunrise for wolves and bison — pull off at any of the marked turnouts, scopes welcome. Hayden Valley is the Yellowstone-side equivalent and has heavy bison traffic at dawn and dusk.

Yellowstone roads close in winter except for the north-entrance corridor. Summer weekends are the busiest. Plan early-morning starts and avoid mid-day in the geyser basins. Wildlife is real — keep distance, especially from bison and elk.
